Forgiveness
What is it? We hear it all the time, but never quite understand it or put it to good use.
Life is all about forgiving. It is forgiving, that helps us move on with life. To me, I think that forgiveness is something everyone possessess. It's not something that we learn in the textbooks, or something that can be taught. Sure, people can easily tell you to forgive, but they will never truly understand because they did not go through the hurt that was done on to you. Ultimately, forgiveness needs to be done on our own, in our hearts. We have to learn to be at peace with ourselves in order to become a better person. People always claim that they are 'trying very hard to change', but change needs to start on the inside, the root that all good and bad things come from, our minds and our hearts.
The world can easily become a better place if people learn to forgive. The next time some one makes you angry and you plan on ignoring him/her, think about it. Whats in it for you? So what if you ignore him/her? So what? What difference would it make? Both parties both angry at each other, both parties unwilling to give in to one another, both parties too afraid to bring down their pride and apologise.
A lot of misunderstandings and confusion and hurt can be avoided if one party chooses to back down and say "OK, I am sorry."
That way, the other party would feel bad too and apologise too and every one can move on with their lives. Sure, it is not just one party that has to do all the apologising. Relationships are all about give and take- sometimes one gives in, and other times the other one gives in. This way, quarrels and unhappiness will seldom occur making your relationship a healthy and meaningful one.
However, this is not how the world works. Sure, every one can sit and hope for peace, but no one really does anything about it. They just sit and complain but none of them gets up and makes a difference to the world. Theres this chinese idiom for it..what is it. Something like "Xiu shou pang guan". Like er, folding their arms and just watching everything happen without helping. Yea, something like that. You see, these horrid people just "xiu shou pang guan" and expect every one else to do the job. But sometimes, we have to be the ones that do the job too. Making the world a better and healthier place is every one's job. No one gets excluded just because they are for eg. the president, or the nobel prize winner. We are looking at us humans as people, individuals that can make a difference.
We have to choose to do the right than do the wrong, we have to be able to stand up to temptation and keep fighting for what we strongly, deep down in our hearts we believe in. I am sure if everyone puts in a little bit of effort, we can all make a big difference.
Well, till here..
"Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him."
Luke 17:3
